Target Audience

This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health systems, specialty pharmacies, ambulatory clinics, and community settings who manage patients at risk for pneumococcal disease in children and adults.

• Identify the epidemiology and burden of pneumococcal disease in pediatric and adult patients.
• Differentiate between invasive and non-invasive pneumococcal disease risks in pediatric and adult populations with and without chronic conditions.
• Apply current clinical evidence and guideline recommendations when selecting pneumococcal vaccinations for all pediatric and adult populations.
• Analyze opportunities to provide pneumococcal vaccinations and pneumococcal vaccine education into the pharmacist workflow to improve vaccination rates.
